Katinka Hosszu secures Women’s 400m freestyle gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary secured gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle on day two of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Saturday, December 29.
Hosszu, who captured the title of 100m IM earlier at the session, went full rampant in the playoff of the race and secured her second crown of the evening.
With her impeccable pace, Hosszu remained in a prominent lead over her toughest challenger and surfaced on the wall for gold medal by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 10.74 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Mathilde Hoareau of France, who was more than three body lengths behind and managed to secure silver medal of the race by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 14.09 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Alize Morel of France, who was almost six seconds behind and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 4 minutes and 20.79 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Eglantine Petit of France, who was nearly 19 seconds behind and proved her eligibility for fourth place by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 39.87 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Jodie Foulquier of France, who remained nearly four seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 43.13 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Lea Casalini of France, who was 0.84 seconds behind and concluded her swim in a time of 4 minutes and 43.97 seconds.
Casalini was followed by Anne-laure Iscaye of France, who was 0.12 seconds behind and touched the wall for seventh position with the timing of 4 minutes and 44.09 seconds.
Last position of the race was obtained by Cassandre Boyer, who was unable to overpower any of her opponents and finished eighth in the race with the timing of 4 minutes and 44.71 seconds.
Furthermore, Hosszu was extremely contented with her title claiming effort and articulated her desire of accomplishing the same in future competitions.
