Katinka Hosszu seizes Women’s 200m IM gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Tokyo
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on initial day of the seventh stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, November 6.
The Hungarian swimmer continued her unrelenting efforts in the second last stop of the series. Hosszu has been the busiest swimmer of the World Cup, participating in an average of seven events at every stage.
With her persistent efforts in the eight-lap discipline, Hosszu showed no leniency to her challengers and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 07.51 seconds.
The champion was chased by Sophie Allen of Great Britain, who stayed 0.34 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall as second position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 07.85 seconds.
The second fastest finisher was chased by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who stayed only a touch away from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall as third position holder by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 07.92 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the event was obtained by Emu Higuchi of Japan, who was considerably slower from upsetting her former finisher and emerged on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 10.59 seconds.
Higuchi was chased by Sakiko Shimizu of Japan, who was 0.34 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end as fifth best finisher by producing a time of 2 minutes and 10.93 seconds.
Shimizu was traced by Tomoyo Fukuda of Japan, who was 0.83 seconds away from her former finisher and reached the finishing end as sixth fastest swimmer by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 11.76 seconds.
Seventh spot of the race was secured by Kotuku Ngawati of Australia, who stayed 0.70 seconds slower and hit the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.46 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Ayaka Komatsubara of Japan, who was 0.05 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 12.51 seconds.
Furthermore, Hosszu was contented with her effort and collected medal after the session.
