Katinka Hosszu seizes Women’s 200m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on initial day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, October 2.
Hosszu continued her noteworthy efforts in the eight-lap freestyle discipline and surfaced on the wall for gold medal. Hosszu, who recently captured gold medal of the 800m freestyle, went full rampant in the 200m event and proved her mettle for the title.
With her relentless efforts, she remained more than a body length ahead of her following swimmer and touched the wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 55.97 seconds.
The champion was chased by Hang Yu Sze of Hong Kong, who was 1.15 seconds apart and touched the wall for silver medal by reporting a time of 1 minute and 57.12 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Darya Zevina of Ukraine, who stayed 0.63 seconds slower form overpowering her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall as third best finisher by posting an effort of 1 minute and 57.75 seconds.
Zevina was followed by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who stayed 0.07 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as fourth best finisher by producing a time of 1 minute and 57.82 seconds.
Jakabos was followed by Fei Wang of China, who stayed almost three seconds apart and occupied fifth fastest spot of the race by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 00.78 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the race was secured by Spela Bohinc of Slovenia, who stayed 3.20 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end with a timing of 2 minutes and 03.98 seconds.
Bohinc remained in a lead of two body lengths over her following swimmer, Moriah Simonds of USA, who completed her swim in seventh best place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 05.87 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was traced by Rachel Marjorie Tseng of Singapore, who stayed four body lengths apart and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 09.76 seconds.
Furthermore, Hosszu was happy with her title claiming effort and raked medal after the event.
