Katinka Hosszu seizes Women’s 50m butterfly gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary seized gold medal of the Women’s 50m butterfly on concluding day of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Sunday, December 30.
The Hungarian swimmer showed no leniency to her challengers in the shortest butterfly discipline and went on a rampage to add another title to her medal tally.
She experienced strong resistance from her toughest challenger, Inge Dekker of Netherlands from the start but with her strong determination, she managed to edge her out over the finishing end for the title.
Hosszu remained only an inch ahead of her closest competitor and surfaced on the wall for gold medal by producing an effort of 26.24 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Dekker, who was 0.20 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 26.44 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the race was obtained by Cloe Hache of France, who was nearly full body length behind and transpired on the wall for bronze medal by clocking a time of 27.33 seconds.
The third fastest finisher was traced by Emma Morel of France, who was 1.08 seconds slower from securing her spot on the victory stand and finished fourth in the race by posting an effort of 28.41 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was secured by Marjorie Hoareau of France, who was 0.56 seconds apart and emerged on the wall with the timing of 28.97 seconds.
Hoareau was followed by Christelle Bertsch of France, who was 0.43 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for sixth place by posting a time of 29.40 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was secured by Aleksandra Putra of Poland, who was only 0.08 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 29.48 seconds.
Last position of the race was secured by Florence Damour, who was 0.33 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for eighth position with an effort of 29.81 seconds.
Furthermore, Hosszu was happy and received accolades at the victory ceremony of the event.
