Katinka Hosszu wins Women’s 50m breaststroke gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Katinka Hosszu of Hungary won gold medal of the Women’s 50m breaststroke on second day of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Saturday, December 29.
Hosszu, who claimed two gold medals earlier, stifled hopes of her opponents by outperforming them over the finishing end for gold medal. She faced strong contest from her closest competitor in the first half but with her alluring efforts, she managed to occupy gold medal of the race.
With her relentless efforts, Hosszu exceeded expectations of her challengers by occupying the title with a nice timing of 32.84 seconds.
The champion was followed by Geraldine Huffner of France, who was 0.94 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with a wonderful timing of 33.78 seconds.
Huffner was chased by Elodie Poo Cheong, who remained 0.60 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for third position by producing an effort of 34.38 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Rachel Mussard of France, who remained 1.34 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 35.72 seconds.
Mussard remained 0.60 seconds ahead of Jade Chow s**+ Yee of France, who was unable to make her way to the finishing blockade and finished fifth in the race by posting a time of 36.32 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Alexia Thierry of France, who was 0.60 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and completed her race in a time of 36.92 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Aude Faubourg of France, who was 0.56 seconds behind and posted an effort of 37.48 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained by Solene Schwab of France, who stayed 0.33 seconds behind and ended her race in eighth place by touching the wall with the timing 37.81 seconds.
In addition, Hosszu was overjoyed with her top finish in the race and stated that she would continue her hard work in order to please her followers by achieving the same at forthcoming swimming competitions.
