Kaustav Deka, Ningshi Block Hazarika move into main round of Junior National Badminton Championship
Mixed Doubles partners Kaustav Deka and Ningshi Block Hazarika showed superb coordination and reserved their right to be in the main round of the 37th Junior National Badminton Championship on November 11, 2012.
They outshined the twosome of Akhilesh Kumar G-Archana M with an impressive result of 21-16 and 21-16.
This crucial tussle was staged at the local badminton complex in Imphal, India and it kept both pairs busy on the court for 19 minutes.
The victorious duo did not make even a single mistake and wrapped this showdown with a splendid 2-0 win.
Kaustav Deka and Ningshi Block, who were underrated earlier in this tournament, registered their class with this emphatic entry in the main draw.
They set the foundation of their supremacy in the beginning of the first set and maintained that upper hand throughout this battle.
In the opening game, both Indian campaigners played cautiously in the establishing rallies and allowed their rivals to stay close on the points table.
However, they picked up some pace just before the interval and gathered few valuable points in a row.
This campaign took them to a respectable score position of 11 and this decent lead ultimately proved the decisive factor in later part of game.
Though, the opposing duo made every effort to narrow the gap in third quarter of the set but they had to kneel down after reading 16-21 margin on the board.
The twosome of Akhilesh Kumar-Archana M could not come out of this bad patch even in the second game as they lost that crucial segment in similar fashion.
This time they established a decent lead in the beginning but then few unforced errors brought them down.
On the other hand, Kaustav Deka and Ningshi Block showed gradual elevation in their performance and saved some honour on merit.
At first, they mounted pressure by putting an indomitable total of 11 and then magnified the impact by raising their lead in third quarter of the set.
The partnership of Kaustav Deka and Ningshi Block looked at its best in the final stage as they stole the limelight with an overwhelming figure of 21-16.
