Kauto Star looking fit to compete and win in the Cheltenham Festival
Paul Nicholls, renowned horse trainer, looked immensely pleased with the performance of his runners. They have been in good shape, and are likely to do remarkably well in the Cheltenham Festival.
Kauto Star has progressed after his fall. Nicholls has been training the son of Village Star, out of mare, Kauto Relka, since November, 2004.
Due to his hard-work and diligence the 12-year-old gelding is one of top contenders in the Cheltenham Festival. For him, age is just as number, as he has done well compared to many of the younger runners.
He was the race favourite in the Grade 1 Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup Chase, which was held on 4th May, 2011. He could not manage a placed position as he pulled-up, and was injured.
His owner, Clive D. Smith, was proud of the gelding, as he redeemed himself in the next race. He overhauled the race favourite, Long Run, by 8 lengths in the Grade 1 Betfair Chase registered as the Lancashire Chase at Haydock, on 19thNovember,
2011.
He proved his talent in the next race, as he triumphed again on 26th December, 2011. He defeated Long Run, who did not do justice to his status of race favourite, lost by 1 1/4 lengths in the Grade 1 William Hill King George
VI Chase, at Kempton.
Kauto Star is looking to complete his hat-trick in the next race. He has raised the expectations of his connections, because of his stellar performances, the punters and the bookmakers will be watching him closely.
Nicholls also announced the retirement of Niche Market. The son of Presenting, out of Juresse, has had a long successful career.
The 11-year-old gelding had some ups and downs, but had immense potential. He finished as a runner-up in his last two races.
His seasonal debut was impressive, but Nicholls is sad and proud to see him retire. He was defeated by, Marufo, by a narrow margin of ½ a length in the Williamhill.com Support Greatwood Veterans’ Handicap Chase, an event which took place at Newbury
on 3rd March, 2012.
Nicholls horses are looking in good shape to compete in the Cheltenham Festival. Zarkandar and Big Buck’s are creating quite the aura of anticipation and excitement.
