Kauto Star to embark the dressage career and soon conquer it
It is the horse that adds glimmer to the name of the stable, success of the owner, triumph of the jockey and the over all pride of the connections. However, when it comes to choose between the animal athlete who brings all the fame and glory, and the people
who are the mentoring reason behind it, there is hardly any margin of doubt that the fans and the audience will continue to love and cherish the twelve-year-old, Kauto Star.
Keeping the rows and the rifts the trainer, Paul Nicholls, and the owner, Clive Smith, aside, crowds will want to see the champion chaser getting to the Olympics level. As he brought popularity to the ones he was connected to before, the gelding to bound
to do the same, but in a different arena this time.
The champion chaser who has won the King George VI five times and has brought back the Cheltenham Cup glory twice to the connections, was very safely sent in the supervision of a European bronze medalist, Laura Collett, who is an inspiration for many and
more to follow. The coach for the Olympian star to be will be, Yogi Breisner.
Reaching the same heights in 2016 Olympics, as Kauto Star did in the National Hunt season (while racing) will not be possible, but the gelding will get all the chances of discovering himself at a lower level.
The excited and enthusiastic trainer commented:
"I feel very privileged and extremely honoured to have been asked to ride Kauto Star."
"I will be working closely with Yogi to give Kauto Star the best chance of a second career in dressage."
“They really need to start their education when they are four or five-year-olds," he said.
Breisner said: “I have been approached by a group responsible for retraining racehorses and the owner to make an assessment of Kauto Star. It usually takes one or two weeks to complete an assessment. The important thing is to give him the time and attention
he deserves after all he has done in racing”.
For now, the question is if Kauto Star will be able to respond positively and adjust to the change in the lifestyle and routine that might just be a little tough for him.
