Kauto Stone shaping up nicely for William Hill King George VI Chase
Kauto Stone’s performances during 2012 have been mixed and he will need to be absolutely fit in order to make a mark in the William Hill King George VI Chase, which is scheduled to take place after Christmas this year.
The talented runner from France did not start the season on a high, as he had to settle for seventh place in his first race of the year. He was given a pretty good starting price, but disappointed his team in the end.
In his very next race, Kauto Stone was once again priced highly, but he lacked the confidence to challenge the top-three runners. He failed to complete that contest and took a heavy fall, which almost caused him an injury.
However, he survived the incident and did not get hurt badly. This probably shook his confidence and he failed to meet the expectations of his team once again in an important competition.
After failing to deliver in several events, he was given some rest and trained hard before reappearing in November.
With The Flow’s son came back in the Jnwine.com Champion Chase, which was a Grade 1 race. He was not rated as the favourite to succeed in it, as there were some fierce challengers up against him.
Despite all the pressure, he pressed extremely hard and did not allow his opponents to dominate the proceedings. After a nail biting encounter, he ended up on top of the table by one length, making his team proud.
This was the eighth victory of the Paul Nicholls’ trainee, who has appeared in a total of 23 races until now. In addition to that, he has finished as a runner up on four occasions whereas secured a couple of third place finishes as well.
The R. J. H. Geffen’s owned gelding likes running over fences, thus he has got a solid chance of being strong in the William Hill King George VI Chase. He seems to have found the lost rhythm and it will be interesting to see how he handles pressure when
it matters the most.
Although, things will not be easy for him, yet his rivals will not take him lightly, as he can end up surprising them with his skills.
