Kawasaki 650 sx problem?

i got it started and put new spark plugs and cleaned the carburetor, but when i put any throttle on it dies

  1. Cleaning the carb doesn't necessarily mean you've solved the problem.  Your carb might require a rebuild.

    I take it you probably don't run the gas out of your carb when you put your PWC up for the day?  If you don't want a overly gummed carb again, this must become a mandatory habit.

    First, check to see if carb needs rebuild.  Look for gum buildup in the areas near the main/hi-speed jet(s).  It also could be a bad float if your carb uses one.

    I recommend you buy a service manual for your PWC's model and year.  If you have OEM carb, the manual should be able to walk you through how to properly dissemble, inspect, and rebuild a carb if needed.

    However, if it ends up being a different issue like the ignition system or another factor, the manual should be able to help pinpoint the root cause.
