Question:

Kawasaki 650sx?

My 1990 650sx kill switch does not work. I have to pull the spark plugs in order to kill the engine, when it decides to turn on.

Is it not turning on because of a bad connection on the kill switch telling the system that im hitting the kill switch even though im not??

Any one have any recommendations?

  1. Learn how to use a volt/ohmeter. Test the switch leads to see if they work correctly.

It is possible you have a bad switch, or loose connections, or a bad starter, or starter relay. PUlling plug wires to kill the engine can cause a strain on the magneto system and really mess things up! You will have to isolate the problem with the tester, then repair or replace.

I have repaired many of those switches. Here is a link for parts; http://216.37.204.206/Mcmart/Kawasaki_OE...  The switch is in the "handlebar" section.

Beware, that switch costs almost $200.00! but they can be found on E-bay cheaper. Learn how to do a simple continuaty test though. Although it could be a poor connection at the relay, I would suspect the switch.
