2008 Ninja what?  250R?  I assume, but you should eb more specific.

If you are speaking of a 250R, you may find that they are almosty impossible to find new through a dealer.

MSRP is $3,499.   Many people are buying them for $5000, even slightly used ones, from eitherr dealers or private sales through Craiglsist and such places,  because they want one bad enough.  So it's up to you if you want to pay over what the bike is worth and if you think you can get your money's worth out of it.

It may almost be better to wait for the 2009 models.
