I have a 2003 kawasaki stx-12f. I havent used it in over a year and now when i start it I have to place my hand over the air intake to start it, and when it is running it runs rough and stalls quite fequently , also the throttle seems slow to respond and it wont open up completly seems to top out at 5800 rpm instead of 7000. any ideas?

  1. Sounds like gummed up carbs. from letting it set.

  2. sounds like it is getting too much air and not enough fuel. Make sure the air is open to the tank. Check hose and fittings for good connections. too much air is getting in system somehow.

  3. Most likely the carbs are gummed up with old gas and need to be disassembled and cleaned out.

    Good luck
