Kayla Brumbaum wins Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown - 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals
Rappahannock’s Kayla Brumbaum impressed the arena on the final day of the 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, July 29.
The session of the championships conducted the Women’s 100m breast-stroke final, in which Brumbaum produced a stunning splash and grabbed the golden crown with an impressive time of 1 minute and 11.94 seconds. Gabbie Pettinichi of ME Lyons won the silver
medal with a winning time of 1 minute and 14.60 seconds, whereas, Meriza Werenski of Gr Holyoke snared the bronze title with a sterling time of 1 minute and 14.61 seconds.
Devonne Moore of Upper Main Line wound up fourth in 1 minute and 15.37 seconds, while Sam Hardewig of ME Lyons was placed fifth in a time of 1 minute and 15.65 seconds. Bethany Leap of Sarasota finished sixth in 1 minute and 15.82 seconds, while Marina Borri
of Farmington settled seventh in 1 minute and 15.86 seconds.
Carlyn Evans of Upper Main Line earned eighth place honours with a time of 1 minute and 15.87 seconds, whereas, Emily Marett of W North Carolina was placed ninth in a time of 1 minute and 16.11 seconds. Megan Harris of Upper Main Line finished tenth in 1
minute and 16.43 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m breast-stroke B final, Rachel Stoddard of Somerset Valley earned top spot with a winning time of 1 minute and 14.34 seconds. McKenzie Street of Ridley wound up second in 1 minute and 15.62 seconds, while Seana Acker of Piedmont earned
third spot in a time of 1 minute and 16.69 seconds.
Erin Dunstan of New Canaan grabbed fourth place in a time of 1 minute and 16.73 seconds. Subsequently, Courtney Flynn of East Hartford finished fifth in 1 minute and 16.96 seconds, whereas, Monica Milici of Middle Tyger settled sixth in a time of 1 minute
and 17.38 seconds.
The Women’s 100m breast-stroke C final was captured by Triangle Area’s Basira Knight with a winning time of 1 minute and 17.09 seconds, whereas, Nicole Provenza of Anne Arundel finished second in a time of 1 minute and 17.62 seconds. Olivia Clark of Wilton
was placed third in 1 minute and 17.62 seconds, whereas, Victoria De Maria of Middle Tyger settled fourth in 1 minute and 18.01 seconds.
Additionally, Elise Prayson of South Family finished fifth in 1 minute and 18.83 seconds, while, Hailey Martel of Northwest earned sixth position in 1 minute and 18.94 seconds. Halie Lacey of Central was placed seventh in a time of 1 minute and 19.24 seconds,
whereas, Alyssa Storino of Wilton wound up eighth in 1 minute and 19.28 seconds.
