Kayla Clarke wins Women’s 100m butterfly Multi-Class gold – McDonald's Qld Swimming Championships
Kayla Clarke of Yeronga Park SC Inc demonstrated her tremendous skills by winning gold medal of Women’s 100m butterfly swim in the Multi-Class category on day five of the 2011 McDonald's Queensland Swimming Championships at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre on
Wednesday, December 14.
The 20-year-old Clarke served notice of her talent by acquiring gold medal of the event in a wonderful time of 1 minute and 10.26 seconds. With her immaculate swim, she remained nearly 3.50 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, Madeleine Scott of South
Lake Dolphins, who clinched silver medal of the event by submitting a time of 1 minute and 13.88 seconds.
The 18-year-old Scott remained 3.95 seconds ahead of her strongest rival, Hellen Haseloff of Redcliffe Leagues SC Inc, who reached the podium for bronze medal by reporting a time of 1 minute and 17.83 seconds.
With her incredible efforts, the bronze medallist remained 3.97 seconds ahead of Manami Nomura of Japan Swimming Federation, who transpired on the finishing wall for fourth fastest spot with an effort of 1 minute and 21.80 seconds.
The fifth fastest spot of the race was occupied by Jenna Hohn of Concordia Olympic Swim Club, who remained almost 10 seconds slower than her former finisher and touched the finishing wall with a timing of 1 minute and 32.14 seconds.
The 13-year-old Hohn was trailed by Lauren Folster of Chandler SC Inc, who remained 4.28 seconds behind her preceding swimmer and concluded her swim by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 36.42 seconds.
The 14-year-old Folster remained just 0.06 seconds ahead of her subsequent competitor, Tinita Wilson of Woogaroo SC Inc, who completed her double lap butterfly swim by producing an effort of 1 minute and 36.48 seconds for seventh position.
The final spot of the race was secured by Rakiya Thomas of McCredie Park, who stayed 1.47 seconds slower than her foregoing opponent and hit the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 37.95 seconds for eighth position.
Clarke received a huge round of applause from audience for her invincible effort in the 100m discipline while the session ended after the completion of all scheduled races.
