Kayla M Wheeler and Alyssa Gialamas conquer Women’s 100m freestyle event – Jimi Flowers Classic
Kayla M Wheeler of Shadow Seals-PN and Alyssa Gialamas of Great Lakes Adaptive Sports dominated the top of the podium for the title of the Women’s 100m freestyle in their respective categories, on the final day of the 2011 Jimi Flowers Classic.
In the S3 disability category, 14-year-old Wheeler was evident for the top position and he claimed the gold medal of the 100m freestyle event, by touching the finishing wall in a timing of 3 minutes and 04.50 seconds.
Alyssa Gialamas conquered the gold medal of the same event in the S5 category, where she touched the wall in a fastest time of 1 minute and 43.30 seconds for the gold medal of the event. She was followed by Jaide O Childs of High Tide Aquatics-FL, who completed
her swim in a second fastest time of 2 minutes and 09.68 seconds for the silver medal. Ryan McLean of Unattached followed them on the podium, for securing the bronze medal by touching the wall in a time of 2 minutes and 23.41 seconds.
Haley S Beranbaum of Stingray Swim Club-PN was almost one second behind, as he posted a time of 2 minutes and 24.53 seconds on the board for the fourth position. She was followed by 15-year-old Michaela B Baker of Shadow Seals-PN, who appeared on the finishing
wall as the fifth position holder, by finishing her swim in a time of 6 minutes and 43.89 seconds.
In the S6 category, Michelle A Fischer of California Capital Aquatics-SN captured the gold medal of the equivalent event in a time of 1 minute and 30.70 seconds. Reilly E Boyt of Fort Collins Area Swim Team-CO was almost nine seconds behind her and occupied
the silver medal on the podium, with a timing of 1 minute and 39.14 seconds. She was followed by Joy A Stebbins, who won the bronze medal behind her, by posting 1 minute and 39.56 seconds.
The session concluded after the 100m freestyle event, while the winners were awarded with medals and accolades for their undisputed swims.
