Kazakhstan and China clinch success on third day – 2011 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship
The thrilling action of 2011 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship is underway in Vinh P**c, Vietnam.
The tournament was kicked off on Sunday, June 19 with eight best women’s club teams from all across the Asian continent. On the third day of the tournament, China and Kazakhstan performed amazingly well and pulled off success in their respective matches.
Chinese team saw off Thailand, while Kazakhstan edged out Indonesian team.
Kazakhstan
Kazak ladies put up against Indonesia team in third match and claimed amazing win by posting 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, and 25-19). Indonesian squad was no match for the strong Team Kazakhstan. Indonesia was already down with bad performance in the previous matches.
They were featured in two matches but none of them brought a glee on their faces. Moreover, Kazakhstan provided them another blow by defeating them in three straight sets. Indonesia dropped opening set with considerable difference of 11 points. Their performance
improved in the next set as they raised the score to 16 but still it was not enough to save them from regret. Kazak side claimed second set and headed for success in third set.
Indonesian team played with good tactics and tried to create a little noise. They managed to steal some points from resilient rivals. They minimized the gap but couldn’t overcome the power of opponents. Indonesia slipped all three sets and suffered another
loss.
China
Chinese women have appeared in three matches and showcased their mesmerizing skills on the centre court. They lost their opening match to Kazakhstan but made a great comeback in the following matches. At the end of third day of the tournament, China topped
the standings of Pool B with maximum points.
In the third match, China had tough competition with Thailand. They posted 3-1 (23-25, 32-30, 25-20, and 25-16) on board and pushed Thailand behind. It was first defeat for Thailand in the on-going competition.
Thailand started off really well. The confidence of previous two victories helped them make a good start. China, on the other hand, spent some time on court and tried to grasp the game plan of rivals. Meanwhile, Thai hitters showed their attack power and
scored consecutive points. China hit back and tried to remain hand in hand with the opponents. The exchange of long rallies started, while the score soared up with narrow gap of points. The suspense and uncertainty was high stake until the end of first set.
Finally Thailand got better and secured first set with 2-point margin.
The second set was the real heated competition. Chinese team hit back aggressively and didn’t miss a chance to score points. Likewise, Thailand was equally efficient in throwing speed-bombs in Chinese half. The fans added more thrill in the match by cheering
their favourite teams. They made huge noises and screamed their lungs out. Second set ended with the final score of 32-30, while China was on the winner’s side.
China continued with success in third set and took full advantage of the nervousness of Thai players. Chinese side tried to put pressure on them and managed to keep an upper hand on the rivals. Third set ended in China’s favour, while Thailand lagged behind.
Game entered fourth set and China seemed fully prepared to end the tussle.
On contrary, Thailand resisted in full forced and struggled to capture fourth set. It was their only chance to play the golden set. However, China denied their efforts and claimed match victory by winning fourth set.
