Kazakhstan’s Women’s Volleyball Team finished the first round with success at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China
The wonderful action of Asian Games Women’s Volleyball Championship started off on 18th November, 2010 in Guangzhou, China. The squad of 11 teams was initially divided into two groups: Group A and Group B. The Women’s National Volleyball Team
of Kazakhstan was placed in Group A along with teams from Maldives, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan and India. The championship was opened with the first preliminary round, which ran from November 18-22, 2010.
Kazakhstan finished the first round of the championship with absolute success. They opened the tournament with an amazing win over Maldives on Thursday. They continued with success and grabbed another match victory while playing against Chinese Taipei, on
the next day. Kazakhstan also beat Pakistan in long gruelling battle. Thanks to India which provided them a great chance to finish the preliminary round with straight victory. Kazakhstan has now earned the top status in Group A and the team is surely shaped
up to take away the gold-ware. However, China has the same results in Group B and it will be great to watch the encounter of these two teams in the second round of the championship.
Kazakhstan vs. Maldives 3-0 (25-7, 25-6, and 25-3)
The team of Bakhytzhan Baitureyev clashed with low-ranked Maldivian squad on the opening day of the tournament. The match was played on November 18 and Kazakhstan posted a humiliating defeat over Maldives. The Kazak side was equipped with experienced ladies
who supplied enough power to ball and restricted struggling team of Maldives to a low score. They built strong lead in the first set and captured the set with a score of 25-7. Maldivian blockers failed to stop Kazakhstan’s score and lost the second set by
receiving 6-25. The following set was the real disaster for Maldives, as they could only help 3 points in the whole set. Kazakhstan closed off the match with consecutive sets’ victory.
Kazakhstan vs. Chinese Taipei 3-1 (25-19, 17-25, 25-19, and 25-19)
The charged-up Kazakhstan’s team stroke with Chinese Taipei on Friday, 19th November, 2010. Kazak ‘force’ came strong on Chinese Taipei and picked up a lead of 5-1 in the early minutes of the game. Teng Yen-min and Yen Pei-Ling of Chinese Taipie
put up great effort but failed to penetrate the powerful shots by Kazak spikers. Kazakhstan secured the first set with the help of 25-19. However, Chinese Taipei’s team created a spark in the game by stealing points from Kazakhstan in the following set. They
captured the second set by posting 17-25 over Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan attacked with full might in the third set and retook the lead by winning third set. They continued with success and pulled off victory in fourth set of the game. Chinese Taipei suffered the damage and lost the match to Kazakhstan.
Pakistan vs. Kazakhstan 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-16, and 15-10)

Kazakhstan was challenged by a tough contender in their third match of the Asian Games Women’s Volleyball Championship 2010. The Women’s National Volleyball Team of Pakistan appeared in the court for a heated competition with Kazakhstan. Both sides displayed
great performance and kept the fans entertained for whole time. Kazakhstan opened the match with first-set victory (25-22) but the resilient rival, Pakistan hit back strongly in the second set. They returned the same score of 25-22 and levelled the game-score
at 1-1. Pakistan’s team continued with heavy strike and captured third set by polling 25-17.
Kazakhstan grasped the game plan and formulized a new strategy. They struggled hard but faced a lot of resistance from Green-shirts. However, Kazakhstan proved to be better team and captured the last two sets of the game. Pakistan fought bravely but ultimately
lost the match.
Kazakhstan vs. India 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, and 25-10)
Kazakhstan met India in the final match of first preliminary round on November 21st. Indian team couldn’t stand the speedy-spikes of Kazak hitters and lost the match in straight sets. Kazakhstan remained un-beaten in the first round and maintained
its winning streak to 4-0.
