Kazuki Watanabe excels in Boys 200m breaststroke prelims – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Kazuki Watanabe of Itoman excelled in the qualification rounds of the Boys 200m breaststroke on day three of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Sunday, September 23.
Watanabe continued his scintillating performance in the prelims of the distant breaststroke event. He remained comfortably ahead of his opponents faced no difficulty in overpowering them over the finishing blockade for fastest qualification spot.
Watanabe enjoyed a considerable lead over his following swimmer and transpired on the finishing blockade for top position by clocking a nice effort of 2 minutes and 15.86 seconds.
He was followed by Kosuke Ishii of Itoman, who remained nearly five body lengths behind and occupied second best qualifying position by producing a wonderful time of 2 minutes and 20.37 seconds.
Ishii was chased by his team-member, Yuta Tsukamoto, who stayed one and a half body length slower from his former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 21.68 seconds.
Subsequently, fourth best spot of the race was obtained by Koheim Fukazawa, who stayed 7.14 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end with a timing of 2 minutes and 28.82 seconds.
Fukazawa was trailed by s**+ Wong of NCSA, who stayed marginally slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 29.34 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Matthew D Whittle of NCSA, who remained prominently behind and hit the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 30.19 seconds.
Similarly, Whittle enjoyed a benefit of five body lengths over Brandon C Fiala of NCSA, who secured his way into the playoff by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 34.82 seconds.
Fiala was chased by Grant R Proctor of NCSA, who was lucky enough to secure eighth qualifying position as he tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 37.14 seconds.
In addition, Watanabe received massive appreciation from the audience after the race and articulated his desire of seizing gold medal of the discipline by continuing the same in playoff.
