Kazumasa Sakai punishes Ryan Macintosh in Men’s Singles first round of Canada Open Grand Prix 2012
Japan’s emerging shuttler Kazumasa Sakai showed his elevated craft when he easily slaughtered Canada’s Ryan Macintosh in Men’s Singles first round at the Yonex Canada Open Grand Prix 2012 on Wednesday, July 11, at Richmond, Canada.
Kazumasa, who is seventh seed in Men’s Singles main draw of Canada Open, live up to expectations as he did not face even a slight problem in beating his rival in the opening fight of the tournament.
The higher ranked Kazumasa was on a completely different level against the un-seeded Ryan and easily won the battle with a huge margin without putting in extra effort in this 19-minute showdown.
In the meantime, Ryan tried his best to play competitive badminton but he was lacking the impressive touch on court and remained struggling against his higher ranked Japanese opponent. He knelt down to Kazumasa in a lopsided fashion without proving his worth.
The starting set was a smooth ride for the higher ranked Japanese shuttler who was aggressive on court. He unleashed his powerful jumping smashes from the opening points and took an early lead quite easily.
On the other hand, Ryan could not take the bird early as he failed to match the pace of rallies and returned the shots very late which helped his rival to dominate the pace at net.
Kazumasa easily dictated the pace of rallies and established a staggering lead of 11-2 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Kazumasa continued showing his superb performance without dropping the pace of rallies and easily won the first set with a tremendous 21-8 score on the board.
The second set was a nightmare for the local shuttler who failed to even return powerful shots of his Japanese opponent.
The in-form Kazumasa was in a hurry as he did not waste any time on court and took an incredible 11-1 lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Kazumasa continued punishing his rival with his lofty skills and easily clinched the second game with an unbelievable margin of 21-3.
Kazumasa hammered Ryan in straight games in just 19 minutes with a stunning 21-8 and 21-3 score on the board.
