Kazumasa Sakai sends Misha Zilberman packing in Men’s Singles quarter-final at Russia Open
Japan’s in-form player Kazumasa Sakai registered his domination on court when he sent the higher ranked Misha Zilberman of Israel packing in Men’s Singles quarter-final at the Russia Open Grand Prix on Friday, June 29, in Russia.
Kazumasa, who started his campaign in this tournament as an un-seeded player, turns into a potential challenger as he continued his giant killing run at the top-eight stage and thrashed Zilberman who was second seed in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship.
The lower ranked Japanese man was in great touch as he did not show any respect to Zilberman and finished off the match in straight games while showing his fireworks for 31 minutes.
On the other hand, the second seeded Zilberman could not live up to expectations as he was heavy favourite to win this contest but failed to show his brilliance against his Japanese opponent and lost to him in a one-sided fashion.
Zilberman started his run in the first set quite positively but only managed to remain equal on the score board until 7-7 when his opponent took over the control of the game and started to build gap.
The in-form Kazumasa was in tremendous form as he faced no considerable fight from his rival and took an 11-7 lead on the score board.
After the one-minute break, the Japanese showed his aggressive skills by playing attacking shots from all areas and maintained his pressure on his higher ranked opponent.
Kazumasa was in commanding position and he managed to win the first set with a wonderful 21-16 margin on the score board.
In the following set, Zilberman received a shocking treatment from Kazumasa who was on a completely different level this time.
The Japanese shuttlers executed jumping smashes in the court coupled with impressive net shots and took a stunning lead of 11-3 until the break.
After the interval, Kazumasa continued his killing run against Zilberman and easily won the second game with a staggering margin of 21-5.
The lower ranked Kazumasa toppled Zilberman in this Men’s Singles quarter-final with a thrashing 21-16 and 21-5 score on the board.
