Kazuya Kaneda clinches Men’s 200m butterfly gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Beijing
Kazuya Kaneda of Japan clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly on foremost day of the sixth stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Beijing, China on Friday, November 2.
The Japanese swimmer stifled hopes of his opponents in the distant butterfly discipline as he went full rampant in the eight-lap discipline and proved his mettle for the title.
Kaneda enjoyed a wonderful lead over his toughest competitor and secured the title. He enjoyed a full body length lead over his opponent and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 51.22 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Shun Wang of China, who stayed almost a second apart and surfaced on the wall for silver medal with an effort of 1 minute and 52.14 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Christopher Wright of Australia, who was considerably slower from his foregoing finisher but managed to secure bronze medal by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 55.47 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race of the race was obtained by Frederico Castro of Brazil, who was 1.30 seconds behind and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer with a timing of 1 minute and 56.77 seconds.
Castro was trailed by Zhijie Xu, who was one and a half body length slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for fifth position with an effort of 1 minute and 58.34 seconds.
Subsequently, Xu was followed by Yanqing Fu, who stayed 0.41 seconds slower and appeared on the finishing end as sixth position holder by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 58.75 seconds.
Seventh spot of the race was obtained by Guixu Zhong, who was 0.56 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 59.31 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by s**+ Ji, who was two body lengths behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minute and 01.25 seconds.
Furthermore, Kaneda was overjoyed with his top finish and raked medal after the event.
