Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 under fire manager, Steve Kean, shared his disappointed at being relegated from the Barclays Premier League but does not blame the players for the disastrous season.
Blackburn Rovers found themselves on the wrong end of a narrow 1 – 0 defeat to fellow relegation strugglers, Wigan Athletic last night,
a result which means that Steve Kean’s side will not be plying their trade in the Barclays Premier League next season but rather in the second tier of English football instead.
A late strike by Antolin Alcaraz in the 87th minute sealed Blackburn’s fate and Kean admits that he was devastated when the referee blew the final whistle.
“We’re devastated. The players are numb, because we felt as though we did a very good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Junior-c20060 Hoilett.”
Kean also expressed his disappointment at not being able to take the fight till the final game of the season but refused to blame the players.
The fact we didn’t get a result and take it to the last game is massively disappointing, it’s a great setback for the club.” He continued, “The lads were everything, they’ve given a big, big effort to take it to the last day as we did last season.”
“You can never fault the players’ effort. We’ve got a very young side.”
Kean also bemoaned the loss of a number of experienced players and hoped to retain their star performers for their Championship campaign next season.
Kean has been a largely unpopular figure with the Blackburn Rovers fans with regular protests being staged against the manager. Fans wanted the appointment of someone more experienced to lead the club and Kean’s performances never had them convinced that
he was going to take the club forward.
It will be interesting to see if the management decide to keep Kean as their long term manager or whether being relegated was the last straw and a new manager is brought in.
However, in the end two out of the three relegation spots have been confirmed with one more remaining.
