Keegan Bradley boasted by the Rookie of Year award vows to continue with his rampage in the next year
Keegan Bradley, probably the most successful American golfer of the year, has now been nominated as the Rookie of the Year for the PGA Tour and could have easily gone over to bag the Player of the Year title, in case Luke Donald was not a member of the PGA.
Grandson of the LPGA Tour Hall of Famer Pat Bradley, the young American surged to the top when he stunned the critics by pulling in the fourth major of the year, the PGA Championship in August, a feat several top ranking players are still hoping to achieve.
Bradley is only the second player in the history of the sport who managed to bag a major title in his first year after Ben Curtis achieved the same milestone in 2003.
"You get one chance at it," Bradley said Tuesday after the announcement was made, "and it was the main goal of mine to start the year. It’s a huge honour."
For Bradley, however, this is just the beginning. The 25-year-old lanky American is hoping to continue with his splendid form in the coming year and hopes to follow Donald in terms of consistency in his game.
"Next year I just look forward to getting back out there and playing, seeing these courses for the second time and knowing the players a little better," Bradley said. "Most importantly being a little more consistent  … try not to miss any cuts or less cuts
but to keep contending in tournaments and try to win every time I tee it up just like Luke did this year."
Bradley won his first title on the PGA tour in May when he outsmarted the field at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. He remained consistent in most of his other appearances and went over to make history when he won the PGA Championship in August, the last
major title of the year. Although he was denied a rightful selection for the US Team in the President’s Cup, Bradley remained upbeat about prospects of a victory in the rest of the remaining events on the tour and pulled in another stunning victory at the
PGA Grand Slam in Bermuda where he took over the likes of rampaging Rory McIlroy.
