Keegan Bradley heads to Augusta National for a practice round ahead of the Masters
PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Keegan Bradley, is now contemplating a round at the revered Augusta National ahead of his first Masters bid in April this year.
The young American has already bagged a major title, The PGA Championship in his debut year and is now hoping to bag another major, the coveted Masters in the second week of April.
Expert in the usage of Belly Putter, Bradley came under scathing criticism from the sports gurus who have been against the use of Belly Putters for long.
Regardless of the criticism, Bradley has been using the controversial putter since long and has done tremendously well in the first year of his debut year on PGA.
An excited Bradley will be stepping on the Augusta National for the second time in his short career and will be playing a practice round alongside Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson on Tuesday.
Bradley said, “My dad was freaking out, he loved it so much and it was even better because he played really well, It’s one of those places that lives up to your expectations”.
The 25-year-old golfer is the grandson of LPGA Hall of Famer, Pat Bradley and is often seen playing practice rounds on the courses set to be the venue of the events ahead.
He was seen practicing at Doral ahead of the Honda Classic and will be doing the same on Tuesday, to acclimatise himself for the first major event of the year.
He added, “When I played it was lightning fast and they put the Sunday pins in for us, Augusta is going to be very important to me and I plan on playing as much as I can”.
Mickelson and Bradley share a strong bond and the latter has been giving lessons to Mickelson over the effective use of Belly Putters.
Turning professional in the year 2008, Bradley played on the NGA Hooters Tour and the Nationwide Tour for a while before he qualified to play on the mainstream PGA Tour last year.
He has six professional victories to his credit, including the HP Byron Nelson last year.
He also went over to win the PGA Grand Slam in Bermuda last year, taking over the grizzled field including the likes of current world number one Rory McIlroy.
Bradley comes from a long line of golfers, who have dwelled in the sport for considerably longer period of time.
His father Mark Bradley is the head professional at Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club just outside Jackson, Wyoming.
Realising his strength in the sport, Bradley went over to take up the sport on a serious note and landed the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Division 2 individual state championship in 2004.
He graduated from St. John’s University, landing no fewer than nine collegiate events before turning professional in 2008.
