Keegan Bradley in contention after the first round, World Golf Challenge
It seems that Keegan Bradley has put aside his off the course troubles and is concentrating on his golf for now. Bradley shot three-under, 69, at the Sherwood Golf and Country Club and is tied for second after the first round.
It is a decent start to the tournament for Bradley, who is just two strokes behind the leader, Nick Watney.
"I did have a bad break on the last hole, but I played so solidly all day, that's the only green I missed. If I could have made a few more putts, I probably could have been a lot lower", said Bradley.
"It was a bad break, but also if it didn't hit that root, it probably would have rolled all the way back down that hill. It was a good day, and I'll make a better swing on 18 tomorrow".
The issue of belly putters must have been a slight botheration for the world number 15. A couple of days earlier, USGA announced that rules are being amended to ban the use of long putters.
This news is surely disturbing for the likes of Bradley, Simpson and Co, as putting is a very important aspect of the game.
Bradley recently said that he, along with the others, will take a legal action if the club is outlawed. With USGA announcing that the use of anchoring will be banned by 2016, players like Bradley and Simpson need to find a solution soon.
He, however, said that the announcement made on Wednesday has given him extra motivation for the tournament.
At the Sherwood Golf Club, Keegan was striking the ball nicely. He could not shoot a flawless round, as he carded a bogey right at the end of his round.
Keegan started his round nicely with three pars and two birdies right on the first five holes. Then again, on the back nine, he started off nicely carding a par and a birdie.
When Bradley birdied the 16th to go four-under for the day, it seemed that he is in for a low round but a par and a bogey on the eighteenth meant that he finished with three-under for the day.
