Keegan Bradley seeks Jack Nicklaus’ priceless advice before his first Masters bid this year
Young Keegan Bradley, PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2011, is now contemplating a Masters victory next month. He is currently engaged in extensive off-course homework that he deems necessary to land the title.
Bradley landed the coveted PGA Championship title in August, last year, to become one of the very few players who won a major event in their debut.
One of the many reasons he was such a blistering success at the difficult event, was not just his extensive usage of the Belly Putters but the timely advice from the 18-major title holder, Jack Nicklaus, himself.
Bradley had a long discussion with Nicklaus right ahead of his bid in the PGA Championship.
He won no fewer than three professional titles in his debut on the PGA and is all set to making his move in the Masters in April this year.
However, before he starts off his Masters attempt, he is eagerly seeking an opportunity to have a discussion with the wizard of the sport himself.
This will be Bradley’s first appearance at the Masters and no player has gone over to land the title in his first appearance, except for Fuzzy Zoeller, who pulled in the gigantic task in 1979.
An expert in using the Belly Putters, Bradley is often stuck in with scathing criticism over the use of the controversial putter, a club in his bag which immensely helped him to land the title.
Some of the big wigs of the sport have came out supporting a ban on the lengthy clubs but there are also few who have decided to adopt the same to improve their short game.
Phil Mickelson, a four time Major winner, is currently learning the technique of using the Belly Putters by none other than Bradley himself.
Mickelson said, “It’s awkward to me, you can always learn, and he putts it extremely well, and it rolls so nicely off the face. Look, I don’t mind trying new things. I’ve hit two drivers and no drivers, and I don’t mind trying something different. We’ll see”.
Bradley is the grandson of the LPGA Hall of Famer Pat Bradley. Turing professional in the year 2008, the 25-year-old golfer has outperformed many of the top-ranked players on the PGA at the start of his professional debut.
He has gone over to win no fewer than six professional titles in his short career.
He lifted the HP Byron Nelson Championship in May last year, defeating his playmate Ryan Palmer in a Playoff.
He moved over to lift the first major title of his career, the PGA Championship in August, winning the three-hole Playoff over Jason Dufner.
He won the PGA Grand Slam and the Franklin Templeton Shootout with his playing partner Brendan Steele.
The season is warming up for the showdown of the giants once again, as the majestic Augusta National will shoot to limelight in first week of April.
