Keegan Bradley talks about Kevin Na’s slow play at the Players Championship – Golf News
The slow play issue in the game of golf is once again making the headlines after Kevin Na forced his final two rounds of the Players Championship to stretch for more than five hours due to some problems with his swing technique.
On the issue, many golf players and commentators have shared some possible solutions for the problem, which may help in improving the game speed on the course.
In the meantime, Keegan Bradley also liked to give his opinion, as he himself had to face the same issue in the past.
Bradley said that he had to face severe criticism in the past due to his slow game play. However, he never received a formal warning from the tournament officials or the PGA Tour.
That is the reason why he also felt sympathetic for Na and appreciated him for being coming in front and talked about the issue in front of others.
“I think that Kevin handled it well,” Bradley said in advance of the Byron Nelson Championship.
“I mean, it seemed like he was struggling against himself a little bit out there, but I give him credit for coming forward and talking about it, and I sympathize with him. It's a touchy subject because you don't want to affect the other players in your group”.
He also said that he never felt as if he affected the other players playing in his group in different tournament.
According to him, he had never been put on a clock that allowed him to perceive that everything was going good.
“...I've never felt that I have affected others, which if I did, I would be mortified. I think if it's a serious issue, maybe they need to start penalizing or fining, something like that”.
Matt Kuchar, who was playing alongside Na in the final two rounds of the Players Championship, proposed the idea of putting a 40-second clock for each shot a player makes.
As a result, it will bring discipline to the game, making it most interesting to watch for the spectators. He said that the US Golf Association and PGA Tour should seriously think on this matter.
