Keegan Bradley talks about PGA Championship’s venue, The Ocean Course – Golf News
The reigning PGA Champion, Keegan Bradley, visited The Ocean Course Golf Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort,
South Carolina, where he is scheduled to defend his major title this year.
According to Bradley, he had always been told about the difficulty the course offers to the players.
He now agrees with each of the stories he was told about players faltering at different times on the course.
Bradley called the course ‘brutal’ after having a thorough visit of the 2012 PGA Championship venue.
Bradley believes that he has learned to adjust to conditions. Earlier, when he won the PGA Championship, he failed to continue with his form and did not perform to the extent that he wanted.
He was given too much attention, which he was unable to grasp. As a result, he failed to come up to the expectations set by his fans.
However, as the time passed, he started focusing on his game rather than people’s expectations. As a result, he returned to his form and the 2012 PGA Tour season stats speak of his success on the golf course.
In total, Bradley played eight events in the 2012 PGA Tour season and his worst performance came in the Farmers Insurance Open, where he tied for the 22nd position.
This means that he had top-25 finishes in each of the tournaments that he played. Moreover, he also has a second-place finish in the season that came in the Northern Trust Open.
"It took some time to realize that things had changed," he said. "That's been the biggest adjustment".
While talking about him being the PGA Champion, he said, "When I'm home I don't feel any different. I don't feel like a major champion".
Bradley is now preparing for the Masters Tournament scheduled to start in the first week of April, 2012.
"It's a great course for me and I'm really trying to copy what Phil Mickelson does," Bradley said about Mickelson’s three Masters Tournament wins, which he earned in the 2004, 2006 and 2010 editions.
Mickelson is currently participating in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and he accompanied Bradley while he was talking to the media.
