Keenan Lineback captures Women’s 200m butterfly gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Greensboro
Keenan Lineback of RIPTIDES-SC captured gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Thursday, July 12.
The 19-year-old Lineback served notice of her talent as she sprinted her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal. She faced tough battle from Julianna Prim of Silver Bullet EL but managed to edge her out on the finishing blockade for first position.
With her astonishing pace, she remained only a touch away from Prim and tapped the finishing blockade for the crown of the event with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.34 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Prim, who remained just 0.03 seconds apart and hit the wall for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.37 seconds.
The 21-year-old Prim was chased by Katelyn Linker of MOR-NC, who stayed 1.21 seconds slower from her former finisher and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.58 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Samantha Kase of DYNA-GA, who remained only 0.03 seconds behind and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 20.61 seconds.
Kase was trailed by Emma Coakley of ET-KY, who stayed almost one body length behind and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 21.38 seconds for fifth position.
The 18-year-old Coakley was trailed by Kelsey Buese of Lakeside-KY, who remained nearly one second slower and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.32 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh finest spot of race was secured by Catherin Felix of Hilton Head Aquatics, who stayed 0.96 seconds slower from her former finisher and reported a time of 2 minutes and 23.28 seconds.
The 17-year-old Felix was trailed by Meghan Smith of Duke Aquatics-NC, who stayed just half a body length behind and made her way to the finishing end as eighth position holder by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 23.63 seconds.
Furthermore, Lineback was contented with her victory in the distant butterfly discipline and stated that she would try to do the same in future.
