Keenan Lineback snares Women’s 1500m freestyle gold: Day four – USA Swimming Sectionals
Keenan Lineback of RIPTIDES-SC snared gold medal of the Women’s 1500m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Sunday, July 15.
Lineback demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the thirty-lap freestyle discipline and occupied gold medal of the discipline.
With her astonishing efforts in the distant freestyle event, she proved her audacity for the crown of the event. She enjoyed a comfortable lead over her opponents and tapped the wall with the timing of 17 minutes and 23.63 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained almost seven seconds ahead of Kelsey Buese of Lakeside-KY, who tapped the wall with the timing of 17 minutes and 30.03 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was followed by Kylie Stewart of DYNA-GA, who stayed 6.61 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing blockade as bronze medallist by producing a time of 17 minutes and 36.64 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Alli Crenshaw of DYNA-GA, who was half body length behind and posted a time of 17 minutes and 37.35 seconds.
Crenshaw was trailed by Julia Durmer of DYNA-GA, who stayed almost 0.70 seconds slower and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 17 minutes and 38.02 seconds for fifth position.
Similarly, Durmer remained almost three seconds slower from Bryn Handley of Lakeside-KY, who ended his swim in sixth best place by clocking an effort of 17 minutes and 41.35 seconds.
Afterwards, Jake Matysek of Silver Bullet El dominated the playoff of Men’s 200m breaststroke. The 20-year-old Matysek outsmarted his challengers over the finishing end as he reached the finishing wall for first position.
With his stupendous efforts, he remained one body length faster from his closest challenger and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.03 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by his team-member, Maxim Litvinov, who remained 1.20 seconds apart and secured second position of the discipline by submitting an effort of 2 minutes and 22.23 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Garrett House of Duke Aquatics-NC, who remained almost three seconds behind and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 25.08 seconds.
House was chased by Connor Lohman of Lakeside-KY, who secured fourth finest spot of the event by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 25.17 seconds.
Lohman was trailed by Jeremy O’Donnell of Duke Aquatics-NC, who ended his race in fifth best place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 26.26 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by O’Donnell’s teammate, Christopher Dong, who clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 26.48 seconds.
In addition, Lineback and Matysek were overjoyed with their victories on last day of the tournament.
