Keep Spray Paint on Clothes

Question

I spray painted a stencil onto a shirt. People said not wash it normally So I put my shirt in cold water in a tub. Threw in laundry detergent and stirred for 5 minuets. I took it out and the spray paint faded. How should I have washed it.

If you didn't use fabric paint then theres really nothing you can do...

don't use laundry detergent

just water.
