  1. try working on better communication with them so they won't feel the need to sneak out

  2. handcuff them to you

  3. no way props to your kids!!!

  4. no ideas but good luck

  5. Let them go out, but have them tell you where they'll be and who with, not so you can limit those things, but just so you can have their backs if they should need you. Let them have their experiences, and they'll come home more grateful for it.

The more you try to keep them in - the more /forcibly/ you try to keep them in - the more extremes they'll go to to escape you. You can't blame them - resistance to captivity is a defining quality of human nature, and independence and freedom are the defining American virtues.

Compromise. Let them experience freedom, and give them a lead to do so safely. Then they won't resist being IN the house quite so much.

  6. is it there window if so my dad used to nail them

  7. security system! dont tell them the code, that'll scare them and it'll be loud.

  8. the reason they prob sneeking out is probly because they know there older and its time they get more freedon im not saing to go oll here is the keys to my car but have a talk and come to a mutual agreement

  9. my friends mom actully put an alarm in, it goes off when ANY door or window opens.

and dogs are like little alarms too, if you dont want to seem invasive, lol my chihuahuas bark everytime a car pulls into the driveway.

  10. my friend cant sneek out cause his parents set the alarm and the system is in his parents room.

so if he tryed to sneek out the alram would go off

  11. Keep all the keys in your room and send them for counselling

  12. You should first figure out WHY they are sneaking out.

I snuck out a lot because my parents wouldn't ever let me spent time alone with my boyfriends. So I'd go to his house in the middle of the night to see him. (3 different boyfriends at different times in high school).

Are they going partying? Drinking? Doing drugs? Sleeping around?

Time to confront and get to the bottom of the situation. Ask what they think you should let them do so that they don't feel the need to sneak out (extended curfew perhaps?). The trust now has been broken, so tell them that once they've proven themselves by not sneaking out for a while, you can give them extended privileges.

If all else fails, get an alarm system. Or, if your community has a teenage curfew system, call the cops when they leave and have them bring them home. Maybe it would be a nice wake up call for them.

  13. how are they sneaking out? ..start with that.. and work with ways that you could keep them in..

Like.. do you have an alarm.... or  i know someone that has motion sensor lights on each side of there house.. and if it goes off it beeps in their bed room

  14. beat their buttts!  that'll show em whose boss.

  15. The father is supposed to be a light sleeper who is feared when he catches kids doing things.

  16. get an alarm system!

  17. The only way to keep them in, is to put a dead lock on the door, and take the key to bed with you. If you live in a house, then you still have to worry about the windows.  That would mean putting gates on the outside that also require a key.

At that point, they would officially be institutionalized.

  18. Your kids do not fear or respect your discipline.  You have lost them.

  19. well grounding them would leave them wanting more so that wont work. maybe they sneak out cuz u dont let them out much during the day. give them some freedom during the day. u should probably install alarms so it would beep when they open the door at night.

  20. I'm 20, and have snuck out of the house... even at 20 years old.

Catching them is a big one.  Depending on if they respect you like they should feel guilty at least.

Does your 16yr old have a car? take it away, the keys.  even take off a wheel or 2 if you must, lock them in your room.  your 14 year old... is he getting picked up or going with your daughter??  Take away things, video games, extracurricular activities.  You can "bar the windows"...

Where are they going, what are they doing?  if they're going with other kids, find out who and contact their parents as well....  show up at the party they're at... cause a scene they may hate you for a few days, but over all it will get better.

Most of all, follow THROUGH with your punishment... I knew growing up if I did something, my parents would say they'd take away my car, but than it was too "inconvenitent" to do that and i wouldn't care if they said so.

Also... how are they "affording" to go out and such... cut off the cash flow.

    worst case... bar the windows

  21. Get an alarm system.  OR, do what my dad did to me (years and years ago)....wait outside their window, then ground the heck out of them!!  He also called all my friends parents and told them I was sneaking out at night and they should check on their kids.  NOT FUN.  I am NOT looking forward to my kids being teenagers:)

  22. Compromise about their Corfu. (sp?)

  23. bar the windows

  24. alarm systems

    and hahaha

me and my brother do that

only im the 14yrold girl and well hes 16

either i sneak out and he helps me

or he sneaks out and i help him

    or we both do.

put an alarm system but make sure they dont find out the code!

its really not that big of a deal

as long as there not doing it to go out and do drugs and drink

  25. Are they always ignoring your wishes???Maybe the problem is that they think you're trying to be a control freak..try to explain to them that you understand they want to go out and be rebellious, but you are concerned for their saftey.  If the corny stuff doesn't work, get out the shotgun!!!! jk  Restricted privalages work, too... i speak from expiriance, no teen wants to be restricted from their cellphone or computer.  Stop paying the cellphone and internet bill...That might work on me!!!  : )

  26. Electric fence and barbed wire. My mom found out my sister was sneaking out when she was 14. So, she slept on my sisters floor.

  27. Give them some space -- sneaking out isn't "space", obviously.  But if they are sneaking out, its for something, possibly to hang out with friends.  Let them be able to hang out with their friends during the day.

But you may already let them hang out.  My brother used to sneak out all of the time, it was really just to hang out with this girl then my dad caught him.

But just talk to your children and see why they were in the first place.  Show anger towards them will only make them rebel more. So good luck.

  28. Take the door off of their bedrooms if they're leaving through the bedroom window.  You'll hear what's going on in their room better.  Make them sleep in your bed for a few weeks.  They'll hate that!!

  29. Try catching them in the act and then beating them silly.

  30. You share a room with your daughter and your husband shares a room with your son. Get an alarm system that beeps whenever a door or window is opened or closed, even a crack. Get motion sensors outside each door.
