Question:

Keep or remove plastic casing from candles?

I bought a 6-inch candle form World Market -- it just comes in a plastic case. Am I supposed to leave the plastic on when burning? I'm going to burn it in a bamboo holder, so theoretically if I take the plastic off, the wax could run all over -- but I'm not sure if the plastic is intended to come off. I've only burned the cheapie Glade glass candles, hence the ignorant question. Thanks in advance!

  1. Remove the plastic, put the candle on a small, nonflammable surface that fits inside the bamboo holder.  Or set the bamboo holder on a plate to catch the drips.

The plastic will melt, may even catch fire and will surely smell awful.

  2. You should remove the plastic. It could catch fire and/ or melt and you'd have a bigger problem than just getting wax all over. Come to think of it, a bamboo holder doesn't sound too saft either because its highly falmible too. But some candle burning tips just in case. Trim the wick to 1/4 in. If its a pillar candle (tall and fattish) as it melts you cans shad the warm soft outer wax ina your hands to keep from having wax spill or drip. Never leave unattended. (of course. and this is very important. I burn candles daily and one time left a taper burning unattendid. I ran out to check the mail and when I came in my blinds were on fire. My bad.) Hope I helped.
