Keep your fingers crossed for Rafael Nadal’s comeback at the season-end finale – Tennis Special
World number four, Rafael Nadal, is expected to return to the tennis circuit for the season-ending grand finale at London, the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. His injury lay-off started from the second round exit at the Wimbledon
Championships and continues to present. It is painful for a Rafa fan to see him at the sidelines because the fighters are supposed to be battling at the centre of courts and not sitting at their place watching other players taking over there thrones with no
resistance at all.
As much as it hurts to see Nadal out of action, it is disturbing the Spanish superhero as well. He is missing the time he spent at the tennis courts and wants to comeback in action as soon as possible. It is the knee injury that
has troubled the 26-year-old Spaniard ever since he picked up the racquet. The howling story that started at the age of 14 is not leaving the former world number one alone.
People who criticize him for the style of play he approaches are immune to his life history. He is a born warrior and nothing will stop him from grinding his body; no matter how much toll those 206 bones take from that gruelling
runs. It is harsh to criticize a player who has always fought through pain to provide the best entertainment in the field of tennis. Can you even imagine of seeing a six-hour long marathon encounter like the Australian Open final of the 2012 without Nadal?
In a statement few weeks earlier, Nadal said, “I hope you see me in Australia [in January]. That is the biggest goal for me, to come back just before then in Qatar, but I cannot say for sure it is going to happen. I want to be
100 per cent when I come back."
I really hope to see the superhuman back in action soon but I will never want to witness his back again so the wait is more beneficial than forcing him into play without 100% match fitness. However, the rumours are there that the
Spanish number one will be back in action for the season-end finale that is scheduled to be played in London. It will be interesting to see the Spaniard again before the season ends just to know that he is doing fine and provide world class entertainment in
the upcoming season. It will just be like a trailer of a movie.
Something that most people are unaware about the life of Nadal is that at the age of 19, he had a check-up of the knee and the red signal was shown to him by the doctor. The medics clearly stated that Nadal will never be able to
take part in any physical sport ever. It was that moment when the whole Nadal family wept and the warrior was asked to wear golf attire and learn that game.
Do you know what Nadal said to his first ever competitor in golf, “Hostile match, right?". It clearly shows the love of sport that kid possesses. Criticizing is always easier but supporting the true hero in the time of need makes
fan, a world class spectator.
