The Manchester United manager reiterated that he will keep inter-changing between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553 until one of them shows the consistency to become first-choice.
Old Trafford is currently blessed with two World-class keepers in De Gea and Lindegaard and Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has taken full advantage of them both.
The long-serving coach has opted to utilize the Dane in recent weeks, but demonstrated his trust in the Spanish youngster after allowing him to take to the pitch against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/CFR-Cluj-c38778 in the UEFA Champions League.
Although still quite young, De Gea has demonstrated enough of his abilities to warrant a place in the United line-up and could possibly in line to start against Newcastle United tomorrow at the Sports Direct Arena after a good performance in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990.
However, Lindegaard continues to bite at his heels and one error from the Spaniard means that he will be demoted to the bench.
While the situation is far from perfect, it also allows Ferguson to choose his shot-stopper with the opponents in mind. And as such the system has been working so far and according to the former Aberdeen boss himself, he has no plans of changing it anytime
soon.
“He (De Gea) was excellent, he is an outstanding goalkeeper, the young lad, he is getting better all the time. I don’t know whether I should play him on Sunday or not but the way we have been doing it in the last few weeks has worked quite well for us. Everybody
wants to play but the way I look at it at the moment is getting the two of them experience will help me in the long term.”
He also added that one of the two will be considered as first-choice only if they perform brilliantly in every game and show enough experience to command the penalty box with authority that is not present yet.
“Obviously at some stage one of them will take over if he shows a real consistency in top-level performance and he has shown a maturity. At the moment neither of them have got that big-game experience," said Fergie.
