Question:

Keeping Internet without a phone

I hear that most people are getting rid of their landline because everyone has a cellphone which I would like to do but if I leave my phone provider, my internet service fee goes up which is pretty much the same thing. I'm trying to cut back. I know my cable provider has a special for the tv, phone and internet, Im just not sure about their phone service which I guess I shouldn't care since I don't intend on using it much anyway. I just hear so many people talk about getting rid of their landline and I'm wondering how they are getting internet service?

  1. I was entertaining the exact same thought last year, then I discovered that in an emergency you Need a land line.  Hang on to it, trust me, just drop any of the frills.  Best advice you'll get this month.  Mike.

  2. That's a new one for me, everyone I know still has a landline, they're better for emergencies, for example, running out of credit on your mobile. You can't have internet (broadband or dial-up) without a phone connection, not that I know of...

  3. Actually AT&T is offering High-speed internet with a landline special right now for $40.  This will be the monthly rate, not something that will go up in 6 months.  Use the internet cheaply and never use the phone!

  4. Qwest service area in WA state offers DSL without the talk.

It is a DSL only for 42.99 + title, taxes and dealer prep.

This service is available in other other areas depending on PUC regs.
