  1. no chickens should be in a rented house if i was the owner i would tell you to find a diffrent place. good luck and no it is not allowed.

  2. lol

  3. I can't speak for the whole of the East Midlands but there is a byelaw in Leicester that prohibits it.  They are insanitary and wake people up in the early morning.

  4. Your best bet would be to contact your local council or get intouch with LHA. I believe poultry comes under livestock rather than domestic pet.

Buddha: I keep 10 chickens, if they're looked after correctly they do not smell nor are unsanitary...you obviously have never been near a adequately kept chicken pen. My girls also don't wake us up in the morning either so your sweeping generalisation is unbalanced and inaccurate and doesn't answer the question.

  5. You should call the city hall nearest you to see if your location is zoned for poultry and ask your landlord if you can have them there if the city gives the ok.

  6. Chicken are not classed as domestic pets!  A domestic pet is an animal/bird that would normally be kept in the home, eg., cat, dog, budgie, etc.  Chicken are non-domestic and could be construed as being a health hazard if kept in a garden that's within a built-up area.

  7. Well I think keeping chickens in a rented house... instead of a chicken shead is wrong... they p**p all the time LOL

Check with the local ordances... or the local animal shelter they probably know all the local rules.

  8. wow some of the answers you got are just stupid! i wouldnt know but maybe call your local council office and ask, they would have all the info. we are getting some chooks soon., we will have our coop by monday =D very excited!!

  9. chickens would come under domesticated pets, you would be taking care of them as pets. you can try writing a request for having chickens in your garden, try and get your neighbours onside also.
