Keeping flies out of the house?

Question

I know people have suggested pouring water half-way into a ziplock bag and hanging over the door to keep flies out. But how, besides with a nail, can I hang it over the door? and does it have to be reflected or near sunlight to repel their eyesights? cause my door doesn't get sunlight in the afternoons.

If there is any other easy ways to keep flies out, please let me know. Thanks!!!

We have the same problem.  Because weight was an issue, we hung a sandwich size bag on a hook (which was already there) just out side the garage door.  

I don't know if it really works, we still get flies just not as many.  I've thought about getting a screen door for my garage - we had one in our other house for the same reason.
