Keeping government un-biased?

Question

Time and time again we see examples where Lobby groups influence policy in government by "wining and dining" our politicians.

Are there any regulations in place (either USA or UK) that stop Members of Parliament (MPs) or Congress/HoR members from colluding with business/mega-corporations ?

I don't think that will ever happen in any government, anywhere. Ever. Regulations or not.
