Keeping in touch question?

Ok, I've always had this doubt. When you say lets keep in touch and you actually do, how often you do it, every week, month, year, etc? Especially with the people you know are far away!

Well how are you going about it? Snail mail? Right back when you have interesting stuff to tell. E-mail? Every few days or even once a month just saying hey hows it going. Text/Phone? Whenever you feel like it. If you're bored or thinking about them.

Usually every few months is what is expected.  If you are truly good friends than monthly.  A phone call or email is easy enough.
