Keeping lamps on all night?

Is it a fire risk to keep a black light and one of those lights that project stars on all night?

  1. just make sure your bulb is the correct wattage for the fixture or lamp.  if you plan on keeping it on all night, you might go with a lower wattage than whats labeled on the lamp (just to be safe)


  2. Providing there is adequate ventilation for the light, its installed correctly and it is not covered say for example a t-shirt tossed aside.  There is no unusual risk.  

    If you are concerned maybe put a smoke detector in the room to wake you should it catch fire.


  3. no. but it also depends on what watts your lamp is at and the light bulb. i would watch it during the day time for a long time and see if it burns up. i wouldnt test this when your sleeping. its how u test to see how safe something is by leaving it on all day long in the day time.

  4. Generally it isn't, but you may want to avoid black lights as they are in the violet spectrum and prolonged exposure to even low level ultraviolet light may lead to skin or sight problems.

    The one that projects stars is really a modified nightlight, so I would say that   that one is ok.

    With the cost of energy, I would consider keeping them off while you sleep
