  1. Actually horse racing is NOT for the 'quick fix' bettor. Those types are better off playing blackjack or the slots.

Handicapping a horse race takes knowledge and time evaluating a horses condidtion, the trainer's intentions, the competence of the jockey, the pace of the race, etc.

That said - yes there are a number of 'addicts' at the track - as you will find at the casino or the local 7-11 playing lotto.

I left a career in science to pursue a career in my first love - horse racing. I have met a number of similar intellectual types who love the challenge and sport of horse racing. I can't stand casino games or the lottery - or even playing a game of pool or darts for money for that matter.

Every form of gambling will have it's share of addicts - the best way to avoid addiction is to know the warning signs and being able to seek help if/when needed. Some people just have addictive personalities in general. Some of it is likely genetic - some of it is addiction to the gambling 'rush'.

Personally I love the beauty of the sport and the 'puzzle solving' challenge of the game. The combination of numerical analysis, genetic analysis, insight and luck appeals to me greatly.

There really is no 'one right answer'. If you ran the same race twice you would often get 2 different outcomes. Your 'correct answer' might not be correct if they ran the race again.

  2. A psychological disorder is when there is a compulsive behaviour or addiction.Doing things for an occasional thrill is NOT a psychological disorder. If later is your definition of a disorder, then this planet is full of mental cases.

Life itself is a gamble baby!

  3. no look at it as small investment opportunity's

  4. Any addiction, will need strong will-power and time, to cure !
