How much truth is there to this?

Someone told me this, and he usually has know idea what he is talking about or gets things twisted, so Im not sure if I should believe it until I hear it from others...lol

He said that you get to keep whatever BAH you are making...I make 1350 where I am(well, my husband does..hehe), and even when your contract ends and you are out you get to keep it for a while...but, he didnt know how long?

Is this true?

  1. Did he also tell you that the tooth fairy puts money under your pillow? LOL

  2. Your entitlement to BAH ends the same day as his active service ends.

  3. ....you ALL are WRONG!!!!

THE NEW POST 9/11 GI BILL WILL HELP PAY FOR HOUSING IF YOU'RE A FULL-TIME STUDENT

  4. No you don't.  Not even retirees.  Maybe you're confusing terminal leave with separation.  Certainly during terminal leave one collects all pay and allowances.

The "new" GI Bill will apparently pay E5 BAH as a stipend to full and 3/4 time students; maybe that's what's causing the confusion.

  5. He's blowing smoke up your butt. You don't get anything unless you retire from the military after 20 years.

  6. This not true.  They only way to receive BAH after you are "out" is to retire then work for the army as a contractor, but that is only after 20+ years. If you receive BAH otherwise after you get out you better put it aside because the military will retrieve it.

  7. You cannot continue to recieve BAH after your discharge.

You can however recieve help with housing if the veteran is going to school and getting VOC rehab. Which gives you some help with housing. It isn't alot but it helps.

  8. no once you are done with the military they stop paying you and they wont keep paying you for it.......

  9. No it is not true. Once he is out of the army and not receiving anymore paycheck the BAH stops.
