Keeps burning a blank disk

Question

i downloaded a live cd to my hard drive. it works in a virtual drive so i know the download works. But when i try to put on a disk so i can do a reboot with it, (the software i have used tried Nti cd/dvd maker 7, and Infrarecorder) says the write was sucessful and you can see that there is something on the disk. but when you put the disk back in to make sure it is on there it says the disk is blank. I am using vista with a toshiba cd/dvd dl burner and have used several different kind of disk. please help me
