The highly-rated Lancashire born all-rounder, Keith Barker, has expressed satisfaction over the terms of the contract extension he has recently signed with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 County Cricket Club.
After refusing to sign an extension deal offered last autumn, the 25-year-old left-hander, on Wednesday signed a three-year contract extension with Warwickshire Bears, and is now committed to stay at Edgbaston till the end of 2015.
“I am really pleased to be staying,” said the left-arm medium pace bowler while speaking to the media reporters after the Bears disclosed the deal on Wednesday.
“Things have gone very well for me since I came to the club. I get on well with Ash and the rest of the coaching staff and I think we have got a squad that is going places,” he added further.
Barker, who joined Warwickshire in 2008, after graduating from the football academy of Blackburn Rovers, had turned down a deal offered by the club management at the end of 2011 season, as he wanted to earn a better offer this year.
Despite being out of contract this season, he has been playing for Bears and impressed Warwickshire's top brass with impressive displays.
In seven county championship matches he has played so far this season, the left-arm seam bowler has bagged 32 wickets. He claimed his first 10-wicket (against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 in Liverpool)
this season.
Despite delays in finalising the terms, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Barker-c47300 revealed that both the parties are happy with the agreement reached in the end.
“It has taken a bit longer than I thought to get sorted out but, as long as the terms were right, there was no question that I would stay - and I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Ashley-Shaw-c2588 admitted that,” said the all-rounder.
Barker joined the Bears in 2008 and made his first class debut in June 2009 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 at Edgbaston. To date he has played 24 first class, 39 List A and 46 Twenty20 matches for Warwickshire, taking 156 wickets and scoring
more than 1300 runs in all competitions.
