Keith Horne shares the spotlight with Charl Schwartzel: Alfred Dunhill Championship
Keith Horne is one golfer other than Charl Schwartzel who received most of the attention during the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The event took place from the 13th to the 16th of December at Leopard Creek.
He won a BMW with a stunning performance on the 12th hole of the course for a second consecutive round. Horne managed to make a hole-in-one on two occasions on the very same hole on different days.
The seasoned golfer had this is mind that a player who will make a hole-in-one on the 12th hole of the final day will get the chance to claim the BMW.
When the sponsors came to know about the remarkable feat of the South African, they presented him with the BMW 5 series.
Although the veteran was not able to clinch the trophy of the champion, he was more than satisfied with the car.
The South African said, "I’m chuffed. It was kind of them to recognise two holes-in-one were worthy of giving me a car. This is an unbelievable Christmas present and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful car".
He added, "I’ve had a feeling this whole year I was going to hit a hole-in-one and get a car. I certainly wasn’t aiming because it was on offer. It was in all the way and never looked like missing.
"It went in a bit faster this time so I didn’t get to admire it as much as Friday. But this one got the adrenaline going much more".
He said in a statement that he is not looking forward to another hole-in-one because going on the fairways with such a mindset will put additional pressure on him. Thus he will not be able to make it to the green.
Charl Schwartzel, in the meanwhile, has also shown brilliance in the tournament with his extraordinary play and recorded an eight-under 64 on two consecutive days.
Many South African players have displayed their talent in the tournament. The event being one of its kinds attracts numerous prominent players from all over the globe.
As the Alfred Dunhill Championship is going into its last round, there will be plenty up for grabs as the prize money involved is massive.
Schwartzel has a good lead going into the last round. If he continues with the same form, he is most likely to take away the trophy.
