Keith Mason returns to Huddersfield Giants after elbows’ surgery
Huddersfield Giants prop Keith Mason has recovered from his elbow-injury to be part of the Giants’ future games.
He underwent a surgical procedure on both of his elbows, which had been troubling him throughout the previous season, but due to his negligence the situation aggravated to the point where it could not be taken lightly anymore.
With his timely recovery, he is looking forward to be part of 2012 season with Giants. While talking about his elbow surgery to Giants’ official website, he said, “I had some floating bone removed from my right elbow, which was causing me a lot of discomfort
and prevented me from training properly. Then my left elbow flared up as well, and I needed to have the same surgery. But that's all behind me now.”
It appears that if the prop would not have gone through the procedure now, this might have hampered his chances with the Giants in 2012. The surgery could not have been more accurately timed, because now there are bright chances that the player will not
miss out on a single game of the 2012 season.
The Welsh international will prove to be very fruitful for the Giants, especially after Darrell Griffin has bid farewell to the club to join in with the Leeds Rhinos. Everyone at the franchise is eyeing him to share the extra responsibility with Eorl Crabtree
which has organically come down on him.
While talking about it to the official website of his club since 2006, the veteran shared that he is well aware of the fact that everyone now is expecting a lot more from him and Eorl.
He said, “That's because we've been around the club for a long time now, and in that time we've got a fair amount of experience under our belts. But taking on that extra responsibility is something that excites us and will hopefully bring the best out of
us.”
He also shared that that he is looking forward to guiding younger lot at the club. In addition, he mentioned that the loss of Griffin is hard to be replaced easily. However, the young talent available on board will help close in the void left behind by Griffin’s
departure.
It will be interesting to see how well Beef fills the vacuum left by Griffin.
