Kel tec .380 AUTO?

Question

Just wondering, is my dad wrong for starting me off on a kel - tec .380? Ive read that the recoil is bad for a .380 because of the tiny gun ( and yes they were right! for a 13 yr. old's 1st shot it was very scary), but after the 1st clip - 6 rounds i was used to it. everyone tells me " start out with .22" but come on im not that weak!

Most people start out with .22, because .22 have no recoil and cheap on ammunition.  So you can practice the trigger pulling before move up to higher caliber gun.
