Kell Brook: I will be a nightmare for Carson Jones and everyone will see my nasty side – Boxing News
Kell Brook, the current WBA Intercontinental and IBF International welterweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about Carson Jones, his next opponent, and said that he will become a nightmare for Jones adding that people must get ready to witness
his nasty side.
Carson and Kell are scheduled to take on each other in a 12-round bout which will headline Sky TV’s Saturday night show. The event is being organised and promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and the showdown will be televised live on July 7, 2012.
The night will also witness Kerry Hope defend his newly acquired EBU (European) middleweight title against Grzegorz Proksa while constituting the co-main event. Kell and Carson recently met at a press conference and shared their thoughts about the upcoming
Saturday night showdown.
Kell, 26, is a prolific British pugilist who boasts an undefeated streak in a total 27 bouts. He has not lost even a single bout and has grabbed a total 18 wins by knocking the opponent out cold.
During the press conference, Brook, also known as ‘The Special One’, remarked that he is not intimidated by the insolent and boastful jabbering of his opponent Carson adding that he will not go easy on Carson like he did on Matthew Hatton.
Kell stated, “Talk is cheap though and I’m not interested in what he claims he’s going to do to me in front of my fans. It’s not going to go 12 rounds. I was too nice against Matthew Hatton and this time you are going to see the nasty side of Kell Brook.
He’s the final step towards a World title and he’s not going to get in my way.”
It must be kept in mind that the winner of the bout will be given a chance to take on the IBF welterweight champion. The IBF title is vacant at the moment and its ownership will be decided on June 9, 2012 in a bout between Randall Bailey and Mike Jones.
Jones, the current USBA welterweight champion, though visibly possesses an upper hand as far as experience is concerned yet has a resume that is tarnished by eight losses. The 25-year-old American lad has been in a total 46 bouts and boasts 34 wins. The
most spectacular aspect of his pugilism is the fact that he has nailed 24 opponents by knockout and possesses a pretty lethal jab.
Carson adopted a really aggressive stance during the media interaction and stated, “Inviting me to come over here to fight Brook is a big mistake. He may have 9,000 fans on the night against five for me, but when we get in the ring it’s just me and him –
he might think he’s a beast but I am a monster.”
The ring for the much anticipated high profile bout will be set up at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
